- Odd layout, decent contentThe layout is a little odd, with the pages being split into two columns and not following on sequentially. Other than this, the info it contains is spot on and I've worked through most of the chapters succesfully.

- There are few better books on this subject out thereI bought the previous version, before I realised that PHP has moved on and a lot of that code is now deprecated. So I bought this version. It's lovely and concise, and covers real world uses of these two languages. I'd also reccomend the MySQL book that these guys do as well, and study them both, as the MySQL covered here is mainly an over-veiw, but is certainly enough to get the php application to interact with your databases. - PHP 6 AND MySQL 5This book is clearly written, the author doesn't go too fast nor too indepth for anyone new to PHP or MySQL but at the same time the book impressively caters for those with prior knowledge to these areas.
I cannot recommend this book enough to anyone interested in getting to know real hands on relative knowledge of MySQL and PHP.

- Best PHP bookAll I can do is completely agree with the majority of reviews and add my voice to the crowd. Although this book may be slightly tough on those who are completely new to programming, it excels in the teaching of PHP for those with basic programming skills.
In my university years whilst reading a multitude of PHP books to try and learn the language, this book was best and the most practical by far. Anyone who is new to PHP and intends to use it in websites should read this book - Larry ... Read More

- Brilliant book, wish i bought it sooner!!This is a really good book, i only slightly knew php & mysql before but this book pretty much answered all my questions.
VERY easy to read (like most of the quick start books), if you enjoyed Elizabeth Castro's HTML guide and you're thinking where can I go from here? This is a good step.
Easy to follow tutorials and screen shots all the way through, diagrams incase you get stuck and some good analogies.
This book assumes you know very little about either PHP or MYsql ... Read More
