Editorial Review:
Product Description:
If you want to build dynamic Web sites that encourage users to interact with them, PHP and MySQL are among the best tools you'll find. PHP is a scripting language designed specifically for use on the Web, while MySQL is a database management system that works with it perfectly. Best of all, they're free.

- Excellent BookTaking a website forward to an interactive level rather than just for viewing requires forms and databases for the users and this book helps a great deal in starting you off on that journey.
You need to know something about writing HTML before tackling this but apart from that it's a doddle.
If you are familiar with the "for dummies" books, this one is just as good and is a great help.

- Outstandingly good guideAs an experienced IT person and programmer I have come to rely on Dummies guides to introduce me to new subjects. I decided to learn how to program PHP and MySQL and I could not have chosen a better guide. After reading it from cover to cover and finding it all entirely understandable, very logical, and actually quite enjoyable, I have embarked on my first project. - A Good Place to StartComing to PHP & MySQL as a beginner, but with plenty of experience in other programming languages (C, C++, C#), I've so far found this book to be very useful, both as learning material and as a reference book.
I'm a big fan of the Dummies series: I like the logical progression through short-ish chapters and sections, clarity of layout, and friendly tone, and this book is no exception.
The only problem I've had so far was with the book on installing the various software tools (PHP, ... Read More

- AverageTo be honest it does what it says, just about anyway. When trying to read through it I found myself constantly drifting off due to the way it tries to teach you knowledge of PHP and MYSQL.
If its your first time trying to learn it I dont recommend this book but what it is basically is a little reference book where you can just skim through it and pick up a piece of coding to use that you have previously forgotten
